Ciara can’t really sing?
A music critic recently compared Ciara to Janet Jackson and J-Lo claiming, “Ciara is strictly a studio singer and has almost no range at all. Outside of the flashy dances and her generous looks, there’s not much to offer in terms of vocal presence”.
The music critic may have a point, but for some reason we just keep on listening. Check out Ciara’s new single featuring Young Jeezy.

On February 2, 2009 at 12:26 pmWhile it’s clear that she’s no Whitney, Mariah or J-Hud, Ciara’s talent lies in other areas that supplement her lack of power vocals. Can she sing? Yes. Can she blow? No. She’s not meant to be a powerhouse vocalist, she’s meant to be an entertainer with a more balanced resume. The same argument could be had for Janet Jackson, and the late Aaliyah. So why is Ciara any different? I don’t see any of the powerhouse vocalists moving the way Ciara can move and she can’t sing the way they can. It’s a tradeoff, doesn’t make her any less of an entertainer…

On February 12, 2009 at 12:16 pmCiara is more known for her dancing than anything… she’s not a strong singer thats why producers should be more picky about the songs they give her… some of those songs were disasters. ciara is no longer allowed to adlib to slow songs… she likes to think she can hit notes… but when a fast song comes on and you see her videos with all of the dancing and everything you’re entertained… that means she did her job.

On November 21, 2009 at 10:05 amWe understand that she is no power house vocalist, but even Janet and Aaliyah didn’t struggle to stay on key. Aaliyah is a falsetto, soprano. Ciara shouldn’t even be compared.
